The lake is public

Lake Frederick is a public lake managed by the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources for fishing, with a boat ramp. The communities

Trilogy at Lake Frederick is the larger part: an age-qualified community on the western side with a clubhouse, restaurant, pools, fitness facilities, trails, and a full events calendar. Lakeside and the neighboring streets are not age-restricted and price closer to ordinary Frederick County.

Outside the developments, the Route 522 corridor and the Armel crossroads hold older houses and small acreage, and the Blue Ridge slopes east rise toward the Warren County line with wooded and mountain lots.

Age restriction, and why it decides things

In an age-qualified community at least one resident of each household must meet a minimum age, with limits on younger occupants. The rules sit in the governing documents and they are enforceable. For the neighborhoods that are not age-restricted, Frederick County Public Schools serves the area, generally through the Sherando pyramid. Confirm the assignment for a specific address.

Getting around

Route 522 reaches Winchester in about twenty minutes north and Front Royal in fifteen south; I-81 is accessible through Stephens City and I-66 through Front Royal. There is no transit. Groceries and medical care are in Winchester.

Buying or selling here

Buyers should be clear which community they are in, what the assessment is, and what the age rules require — and should visit the amenities rather than reading about them, because that is the purchase. Sellers should lead with the amenity package and the view; those are the reasons anyone looks here, and the drive times are the objection to answer honestly.
